The Maximuse Operating Room is a comprehensive concept designed to minimize the risk of adverse events during and after surgery. The design ensures patient safety and includes hygienic materials, the highest quality air throughout the entire OR, and a fully integrated IT platform. Special attention has been given to both sound and lighting to maximize staff comfort. The innovative design is based on the smart application of proven technology and is developed with input from OR staff. Safety by design, aiming for zero infections.

Maximuse developed a complete OR concept where the design is focused on patient safety and staff comfort. Safety, sterility, contamination control, efficiency, and comfort are key aspects for ensuring a smooth and safe surgical procedure as well as patient recovery. In collaboration with the medical staff of Sint Maartenskliniek (an orthopedic hospital in the Netherlands), we have created a risk-based design for an operating theatre (OR) to guarantee patient safety and enhance staff comfort.

We have successfully improved over 100 details of the OR through smart applications of proven technology, the use of new hygienic materials, the implementation of circadian lighting, the development of a fully integrated IT platform, and the maximum integration of user requirement specifications. During the design process, we looked at other industries for inspiration. To optimize contamination control, we adopted cleanroom technology, for lighting we used theatre technology, and for cleaning procedures, we applied best practices and materials.
